Orunodoi News: Orunodoi 3.0 Launched in Tamulpur to Benefit Over 61,000 Women

GORESWAR: The Assam government rolled out Orunodoi 3.0 in Tamulpur district on Friday, extending financial assistance to over 61,000 women beneficiaries as part of the scheme’s broader implementation across the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).

Orunodoi 3.0 has been launched for more than four lakh beneficiaries across five districts of BTR. While Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma and Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) Chief Hagrama Mahilary formally inaugurated the scheme at a central event in Kokrajhar, a separate programme for Tamulpur district beneficiaries was organised at Pathalikuchi by the district administration.

As per the directive of the Chief Minister, Minister for Environment and Forests Chandra Mohan Patowary and Minister for Sports and Youth Welfare Nandita Gorlosa attended the Tamulpur programme. Addressing the gathering, the ministers reiterated that Orunodoi 3.0, a flagship welfare initiative of the Assam government, would play a significant role in empowering women across the BTR region.

Welcoming the attendees, Tamulpur District Commissioner Pankaj Chakravarty highlighted the expected positive outcomes of the scheme, describing Orunodoi 3.0 as a major step towards strengthening social security and financial inclusion for women from economically weaker households.

The event witnessed the participation of over 40,000 women, during which it was officially announced that 61,578 women from the Tamulpur district would be covered under the scheme.

Several dignitaries were present at the programme, including local MLA Jolen Daimary, BTC Deputy Chief Bijit Goyary, BTC Executive Member Ganesh Kachari, BTC Councillors Rekharani Das Boro, Maheswar Basumatary, and Lakhi Das, as well as BJP Tamulpur District President Victor Kumar Das, along with officials and staff from various government departments.

Orunodoi 3.0 aims to provide monthly financial assistance through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), reinforcing the Assam government’s focus on women-centric welfare and inclusive development across the state.
