Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has indicated a possible increase in the Orunodoi scheme benefit to ₹9,000 and hinted at a change in the payment date during a recent Press Meet at Bhupen Bora’s House.
Chief Minister is heard speaking informally about the current political situation in Assam, including the impact of senior Congress leader Bhupen Bora’s developments and the broader political climate. Toward the end of the speech, he briefly referred to the Orunodoi scheme while addressing women beneficiaries.
Himanta Biswa Sarma mentioned that earlier discussions referred to providing ₹8,000 under the Orunodoi scheme around February 20. However, he suggested that the timeline may be revised.
He is heard saying that instead of February 20, the payment could be made on March 10, and that the amount may be increased from ₹8,000 to ₹9,000.
